Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. was the first Latina sorority established in the United States. In 1975, seventeen young ladies at Kean University realized the need to unite the Latino community. Not only were these seventeen Founding Mothers able to unite the community, but they also demanded the appropriate recognition and support from their university. With much effort and success, Lambda Theta Alpha was able to open chapters across the nation at hundreds of universities and colleges. Although the sorority is Latina-based, Sisters like to remind potential members of the home that Lambda Theta Alpha has been able to provide to young women of diverse backgrounds. This year, Lambda Theta Alpha celebrates 43 Years of Living Our Dream of Sisterhood, Service, and Success.
